I must apologize for the delay in this being published. With power
outages and shutdowns of the computer due to thunderstorms yesterday, it
was impossible to get this done by the end of the day yesterday. So here
it is, bright and early this morning.
Another busy couple of weeks. With so much going on with the horses, it's
tough to keep track of it all. I'm sure, I'm not even coming close to
getting it all either. This issue is filled with information near and far
- helpful hints, training and health tips, plus local happenings of
course.
New on the website since the last issue is the activation of the chat
room (see related info in From The Horse's Mouth), and I have now made
the listing forms even easier to use. They should work for everyone now.
I added a form for submitting your horse stories as well as an event
listing form and a feedback form. Please use them to submit your
information.
My photography skills are not the greatest - hope to improve there. And
while I can't be at all events, I would hope some of you would report on
the events and send me information I can use in future issues of Equine
Niagara News. A one-person news office is tough to handle, so any
information you can send is greatful. Please note, I must have permission
to use any photos you send me and cannot use photos by professionals
without express written permission and appropriate photo credit
information.
I can't believe this is the 10th issue already. I love your comments and
enthusiasm for the newsletter and website.
So, off I go to start the next issue - hard at work all the time.

Niagara Hoe Down -
a Fun and Succesful Night

Who would think - a hoe down in Niagara? And all for charity. The May
Court Club of St. Catharines, Rotary Club of St. Catharines South and
Performance Cars put on an exquisite night of old-fashion fun,
entertainment and food. Guests were greeted by three members of the
Upper Canada Equestrian Association on their horses and escorted to the
welcome tent with a great display of old-west memorabilia provided by
Tom Bishop and the 4B Ranch. The booth was also sponsored by HorseWorld
Emporium.
Entertainment for the evening included square dancers, Sandy Vine and
the Midnights with a guest appearance by Graham Lear (presently touring
with Paul Anka, former drummer for Santana) and a mechanical bull.
Dinner was beef, ribs, corn on the cob, beans and franks, salad and
more. The rain held off except for a light misting about 10pm. All had
a wonderful time in their cowboy gear. At press time today, numbers
were not yet available as to the amount of money raised for the cause.

Fox
Lair Stables Annual Sorting Banquet and Spring Dance had
a great turn out on a wonderfully warm spring evening - June 13th. With
the regular sorting members arriving to celebrate their wins for the
year, receive their awards and enjoy the festivities, the night went
extremely well. Congratulations to Stefanie Fox on her 1st place
overall win for the year with a whopping 1788 points for the season.
Crystal Fox was second, Jessica Banville, third and an honourable
mention - and a trophy to Mike Dimizio in fourth place - a mere 33
points behind Jessica. The band was "Under the Influence" - a
good array of music for everyone of all ages. Sorting continues all
summer at Fox Lair, Friday nights at 7:30 pm. Bring your horse, come
out and have some fun chasing a few cows - no experience required.

Horse "Tails"___________________________
Dreams can come true!
It's
been about eight years I have dreamed to own my very own horse. Eight
years that I have been around horses. Never did much with them besides
ride, never really understood the whole idea of keeping one as a pet
until last year while I started to ride at Saturn Stables, every week I
got to ride a different horse, and every week I had to clean the barn
inside out. I became friends also with my coach Deb and loved
being at the barn, I volunteered as much as I could and practically
lived there, but Deb told me I could not live in the barn lol. Stephanie's story....
