Can
you believe 12 issues of Equine Niagara News have been produced? I can't
believe I keep finding enough information to write about and links to
other information I think you will feel important enough to read. It
certainly is interesting meeting everyone and getting these stories. I've
never been so active.
And now with the
addition of the classifieds e-blast on alternate weeks to Equine Niagara
News, I'm even busier. This little addition however is proving quite
beneficial in promoting your items for sale and getting more people to
place their ads. As always the classifieds are FREE for individuals and
stables. I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful comments that
keep coming in about this newsletter. Appreciation is always welcome.
Equine Niagara News is
now at a point that I need a little help, thus I'm looking for writers
and sales people. The sales positions are commission only at this point,
if interested please give me a call or email me. As for writer's -
at this time I am looking for people willing to cover events and submit
stories to me to boost their chosen career, by-lines and a short bio
(including link to your website if you have one) will be given with each
article submitted. A great opportunity to show your talent and be
published.
There are so many
equine related things going on, I cannot possibly be everywhere.
Sometimes I wish I could. Taking part in all events would be fantastic,
unfortunately I cannot get myself or my horse to all of them. Gee - I
wonder why?
Also, if you know of
an event or story that I am not aware of please submit your ideas or
information to me for inclusion in the calendar of events or for future
articles. I love hearing what is happening out there.
And most of all,
forward this email to your friends if they are not receiving it. I know
there are many more people out there with horses that I'm not reaching
yet - it's a matter of finding them.
Have a good read, and
enjoy the weeks ahead with your horses. Hopefully the rain will stop
soon!
Debi Katsmar.

Woodbourne
Bed and Bale

Nestled into a corner property in St. David's, stands the majestic 1838
Woodbourne House which is currently a bed and bale and the home of
Gloria Woodruff and her son Nathaniel. If you have had the pleasure of
meeting Gloria, you would know just how much love and attention goes
into the care and upkeep of the history of the property.
In the early 90s, Gloria and her husband spent every waking moment
lovingly restoring the home, property and furniture on the property to
the magnificence you see today and to the original beauty of the
property that Gloria's husband Bruce remembered from his childhood
past. The home originally belonged to Bruce's great-great-grandparents.
The Woodruff's left no stone unturned in the restoration process.
A tour of the home left me gaping at the beauty of the antiques, the
photographs of the history of the family, and the knowledge Gloria has
of this history. Each room in the bed and bale is named after a prominent
person in the family history. Offering 3 rooms, visitors feel quite at
home in the relaxing atmosphere of Woodbourne. Read
more on this beautiful bed and bale....

What's New at
the OEF?
Are you an
OEF member? If not. Why not? Over and above the insurance coverage your
receive with your membership, there are many other good reasons to
become a member a few of which are mentioned below:
First, along with your membership comes the ability to attend the OEF Annual Conference
held this year November 27-29th at the Delta Meadowvale Resort &
Conference Centre in Mississauga. The event truly is "The Equine Educational
Event for Everyone!"
Already on the roster this year are: the most trusted horseman, Josh
Lyons; Barn Mice founder Barbara Fogler; Coach, Lindsay Grice; and our
very own local cowboy, Mark Dobrindt who together with Bonnie Simpson
will be hosting a trail riding clinic at the conference.
And now, you can win tickets to the conference for you and a friend by
taking part in the "Conference
Video Quiz". A series of 9 video's to be watched
then respond with the correct answer to enter the contest. The first
video is on-line now. Enter by clicking here.
Next,
nominations are now being accepted for the "People Make a
Difference" award as well as a selection of other
annual awards presented to outstanding people in various categories
such as the Yvonne
Collard Award. This award is presented to an Adult
member of the OEF who has made an outstanding contribution of time and
effort to Ontario equestrian sport, recreation, industry and/or equine
welfare, in memory of Yvonne Collard, who devoted a great deal of
energy as an OEF Director and Official to further the sport.. More
information is available in your copy of the OEF's "WHOA!"
magazine.
And finally, did you know the OEF has a Youth Bursary available each
year. Applications are now being accepted for youth ages 14-17
until December 4th, 2009. Again, more information is available in your
copy of the WHOA magazine - you must be an OEF member to get this
magazine....
So why are you not a member? Equine Niagara News would like to know.

All Systems Go!
10, 9, 8 7....
Let's imagine that you've strapped yourself to a rocket. Now add
muscle, flesh and a brain to that rocket. Seeing as the rocket has
a mind of its own and muscle to control its every whim now what would
you say.
Maybe you already know where I'm going with this, but saddle up with me
for the ride anyway.
I used to say 'it's all in a days work' but this time with this
horse it was different and it was the one ride that changed my life for
a long, long time. Read entire story....
