It's that time of year again - the kids are excited, the parents dreading it. What to do with the children all summer? Of course, the search begins for just the right summer camp. And we all know for those that love horses - that is where they want to be - with the horses for the summer. Niagara Region offers a number of horse summer camps all with varying levels of activities. They all have one thing in common - horses!
To feature just a few, first is B 'N R Stables in Fenwick where children develop new skills and independence, connect with horses and nature, establish new friendships, are very active and laugh a lot and come home tired and happy. B 'N R's Wild West Camps offer 2 full horseback riding lessons each day, grooming and tacking of the horses, trail rides, driving with horses, bareback riding, the interactive "horse discovery centre", educational games about horses, and horse crafts and activities.
The camps are offered July 12-16, 19-23, 26-30, August 9-13, 23-27 and new this year a Show Camp Aug-16-20th. Visit their website for further details and registration at www.bnrstables.com.
Next, Sherwood Farm in St. Catharines (Pelham) - Offering camps July 5-9, 12-16, 27, 28, 29, August 9-13, 17,18, 19 and August 30-Sept 2, Sherwoods camps have individualized instruction, sportsmanship and co-operative conduct is promoted, beginner through advanced english lessons, horsemanship, grooming, demonstrations and workshops, crafts, swimming, hikes and games with the week ending with a family BBQ. Sherwood also offers campers the ability to spend one or two nights depending on the session at the farm. Programs vary, call Robin, Jacalyn or Marilyn for details 905-684-9348.

And this one - a little further away Reach Huron in Clinton Ontario offers a variety of summer camps throughout the summer - both day-camps and overnight options are available depending on the camp. Here's a sampling: Own a Horse Camp I July 5th-9th, Camp II July 19th-23rd - Open to students who have just completed grade 6 or 7 and who do not own a horse. Campers are assigned a horse for the duration of their stay, learning riding, grooming, horsemanship etc. July 12th-16th offers the Ride, Shoot and Swim Day Camp which offers horseback riding, swimming and archery to mention a few.
