Only "The Best" for your Horse
"The Best Bandages" That Is.
By Debi Katsmar
Home Stretch with Best Bandages
The Best Bandages is owned and operated by Sandy and Marsha Best right here in Azilda, Ontario. Sandy a life-long horseman that has drove, trained, groomed and shod standardbreds all his life and together with his wife's expertise as a Magneto Therapist and Acupuncturist set out to develop a magnetic product to aid in the recovering and rehabilitation of standardbreds from various ailments. In so-doing they have not only developed products to help horses, but dogs and yes, humans too.

Marsha Best has a clinic in Azilda, Ontario providing pain relief and treatment from the clinic as well as home care. She completed courses from Elec Western Medical Systems in Magnetic Field Therapy and Laser Therapy in 1988, amongst other notable educational studies that have gained her the reputation as the Sudbury area's leader in the pain management field. Marsha also has a life-long history with horses, representing Canada in the women's championships in Naples, Italy in 1980. Marsha's motto - "A sound horse is a happy horse".

Together the two have developed products to help reduce inflammation, relieve pain and increase circulation. This can help your horse recover from bowed tendons, suspensory problems, splint ankle problems and prevent small trains from becoming career ending injuries.

Magnetic products for the horses include: leg bandages, blankets, crown covers, nose covers, and pastern wraps. Products for dogs include blankets and mats and for us aching humans - there are magnetic pads and ankle/wrist wraps. The workmanship and quality in all the products are simply "the best", with extra's being added including having your horse's name embroidered on the products as well. Multiple colour choices are available. There is something for every size horse and many colour combinations to suit the owner's preferences. Sandy and Marsha go out of their way to get you what you need.

As a horse-owner myself, we have quite often used "The Best Bandages" on our horses. First our star "A" level pony wore the magnetic bandages to keep her from stocking up and relieve the strains from the show world. And now, our Grand Champion "A" 1.0 meter jumper, Home Stretch (Hanovarian)  also has the full complement of "The Best Bandages" products to help relieve his aches, pains, and increase circulation.

" He's 15 year's old and needs constant attention to keep him in tip-top shape for show season. He works hard to compete at the "A" level  and stay on top," says Bill McGee. "There is nothing too good for Home Stretch".

As for dogs and us humans - well - My 11-year-old lab that is very arthritic has been sleeping on one of the magnetic pads and wearing the magnetic dog blanket for over a month now. He has limbered up considerably. He's now wanting to play and romp around like a two-year-old again. How much of this is the magnets and how much of it is spring eagerness, I don't know, but - he is doing much better and living a more active life now - obviously with less pain and friction from the arthritis.

As for humans - recently I've had the misfortune of tearing my rotator cuff - in not one, but both arms. Since acquiring the magnetic pads, I have been sleeping on them myself and again, have noticed quite a difference. At this stage, they are not really healing - more because I won't quit doing what I have to do. But I have taken the anti-inflammatories prescribed by the doctor to no avail. I have tried not using my arms as much and changing the position of doing things to no avail. But, after two weeks of trying the magnetic pad on the bed at night, my arms are finally feeling better. They are still sore and not up to par, but as far as the overall picture goes - they are feeling better than they were. Not being one for medications I rarely take the medication prescribed - so for now magnetics it is.

Please keep in mind magnetic products should be avoided during pregnancy, if you have a pacemaker, defibrilator or use an insulin pump.

Magnetics may not be the answer to every problem, but in this household they have helped with quite a few issues plaguing our horses, dogs and ourselves.
