For school my daughter who is 9 had to write a speech.  She wrote it on her horse Misty:

mistyMisty…
Who is Misty you ask?
Misty is my horse and NO you cant have her! I got misty August 25 2010, it was a Wednesday. Misty is a chestnut coloured mare that means she is a girl. She has a white blaze down her face and two white socks. Chestnut horses are the same colour as… you guess it …chestnuts and they are my favourite colour of horse!

Misty is 24 years old registered paint but she forgot to get spots. Her registered name is Rainy Poco Mist. Misty was born on April 2nd 1986. It was a Wednesday…yes I used google to find that out. She is the kindest, gentlest and the slowest horse EVER! My love for Misty started 3 years ago. My mom has always been into horses and I started to take interest in them but because my moms horse is CRAZY she thought it would be better to take lessons on a horse that would be good to me.

I started riding one day a week with a man named John Bridge. He is a farrier ,and also a cowboy. Patti his wife owned Misty. I enjoyed my time at farm with Misty and John and we would always do fun stuff. One time John and I rode around a large hay field he was on his big horse named Joey and I of course was on Misty.
Another time John had set up a barrel in the arena and I was riding around it when I gave Misty a kick to get her going and she took off into a gallop John yelled “WHOA” and she stopped right away. I have never been so scared in my whole life and it was then that I fell in love with Misty. I knew that she would never hurt me.

On October 2 2009, Patti and John let me take Misty to the Caledonia Fair. It was a cold and rainy Friday afternoon. I rode her in walk/jog class and we placed second winning $13. I was so happy until I realised that $13 cant buy anything I wanted at a tack store so instead I bought a bag of apples for Misty and candies for myself.
John was in need of a new roping horse and asked my mom if we wanted her. We couldn’t take her cause we didn’t have room for her and man was there tears shed over that! A year later Misty came back up for sale and mom jumped on the chance. She didn’t tell me what was happening. We went out to the barn and in pulled a horse trailer.

Andy Park, another farrier, came walking up the driveway with a horse and handed me the lead line he said “here’s your horse” I looked at my mom wondering what this all meant and said “she looks just like Misty” my mom said “it is Misty” tears filled my eyes I was so excited even my mom started to cry! I took her in and started to brush and couldn’t stop hugging her! My dream of owning a horse had come true.
Sometimes now I still cant believe I have my own horse until mom makes me muck stalls but it is all worth it because of Misty. I love her and I am lucky to have the worlds greatest horse. Thank you for listening to me brag and sorry to all the other horse owners out there but my horse really is the best!
