Cedar Ridge Show to Raise Money for Breast Cancer (July 4th, 2010)

On July 4th, the jumper show at Cedar Ridge will benefit the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation due to the efforts of Cedar Ridge rider, Stefanie Elia.

"I chose this charity because I believe that breast cancer has touched us all in some way. Whether a parent, friend or loved one has had to fight this fight of breast cancer, I figured what better way to raise money for a charity than by doing something that many people love to do -- ride horses," says Stefanie.

This is a regular jumper show with no extra classes. A portion of each entry, the proceeds of a 50/50 draw and the money raised through the "Save the Ta-Tas" shirts will be donated.

Brenda Belair of Cedar Ridge commented, "just about everyone in our barn has been affected by cancer in some way. Because most of our riders are women or have women they love, we decided breast cancer was a good choice. Even if we only raise a little, every dollar towards research is important."

A Surprise for Jim and Brenda!

Christmas at Cedar Ridge was a wonderful occasion.  The barn adopted a family this year and the generosity of all the parents and students was amazing.  We were able to give a family in need a very special Christmas with lots of special gifts for the children, nice gifts for mom and dad and a delicious Christmas dinner with all the fixings.  It is so fulfilling to know you have helped those in need enjoy all the luxuries that we take for granted.

The barn celebrated with a dinner at Bailey O’Brady’s on Hwy 20, in Fonthill.  Once again the meal was absolutely perfect with plenty to go around.  We recommend everyone give this restaurant a try.  After dinner the barn participated in a secret santa with special gifts for everyone.

This year the customers of Cedar Ridge were extra special to Jim and I.  We were presented with a new farm sign designed by the riders and parents.  Jim and I were absolutely shocked to say the least and tears of joy were abundant.  I would like to say a special thank you to all of you for your incredible gift.  We will cherish the sign and make sure it is put in a prominent spot for all passing by to see.

Happy New Year to everyone and we hope the year is full of good health and happiness.  We would also like to wish all of our neighbouring stables and riders a safe and enjoyable 2010 show season.  Looking forward to seeing all of you.
