Busy Month for Dry Lake Saddle Club
by Stacy Norsworthy

overnight ride It’s been a busy month at Dry Lake Saddle Club. In addition to our regular monthly show, DLSC hosted the “Little Wrangler Round-Up”, an all-breed show open to all area youth on August 14th. Turnout was great – with 138 entries in 16 classes, excellent considering it was a rain date!

The Little Wrangler Round-up was run as a clinic with instruction in performance and speed events. Marianne Ramey did an excellent job on the performance side and very generously donated her time. We were thrilled to have Jessie Robson as the speed events clinician, especially when we learned she was leaving very early Sunday morning to attend university in Oklahoma on a Barrel Racing scholarship.

There were cash payouts in a number of classes and the all-round high point winner was Callie Doucette.

little wrangler showCasie Hartwick did a fabulous job organizing the event. Many thanks to Casie, all the volunteers and to the many generous sponsors who made this event a success.

Dry Lake also hosted their Annual Overnight Trail Ride on August 7th & 8th with a potluck dinner on the evening of the 7th. A good ride was had by all, the food was fantastic and karaoke was great fun! We look forward to seeing everyone there again next year!

$1400 Raised through Silent Auction for DLSC

dance
The Annual Dry Lake Saddle Club Spring Dance and Silent Auction was a HUGE success! The new venue, new date and new DJ brought out some new faces. Dancin’ Dan (aka the Ti-Cat’s Pigskin Pete) did a fantastic job! He not only donated his services for the night, he also brought along a Tiger Cat ticket package that was auctioned off for a whopping $400 to Katrina Schmitz. Many thanks to both of them!

Generous donors made the Silent Auction a winner, over $1400 was raised for the Club’s youth members!

Our delicious late night snack of roast beef on a bun was prepared by The River’s Edge Dining Room & Catering at the Dunnville Golf & Country Club and Shawna Norsworthy. VERY tasty!!

The DLSC Youth are raffling off a custom mailbox with the winner to be drawn at our annual awards banquet in November. More details on this and our upcoming trail rides and other events are available on our website – www.drylakesaddleclub.webs.com. Check often for updates!

Thanks to all who donated, volunteered and attended the Annual Spring Dance & Silent Auction! We’re looking forward to a great 2010 show season! See you on May 16th for the first show!

Thanks

Ciao fer now!
