Hi Y'all

believe it or not here we are over half way through the year already!!

The one thing that we like to keep on top of is the volunteers who spend endless hours planning, prepping and workign hard to keep the shows, banquet and sponsors moving forward.  The Dunnville Saddle Club constitution requires that those who take on a volunteer position, continue on for a period of two years.  Lets face it, it takes a year just to "get it".  :)

So.... this is the second  year for most of us on the committee and we will be holding a vote at year end to renew or replace the positions that are now held.

These positions are

president

vice president

secretary

treasurer

youth director

show manager

ring steward

and as many directors as we can dig up.

Soo, the same people may take on the positions again but there are some who wont want to.  If there are some who would like to stay on, we will still put it up for others to be nominated and if theres others interested, then there will be a vote.  The executive positions can only be held by those that have been on the committee for at least one year although that will free up some directors positions which we would love to fill with some new folks!

****  One of the big jobs I will be giving up this year is the newsletter.  For anyone who would be interested in doign this job, it is written every other month and printed and distributed.   We as a committee all help to distribute but the person writing the newsletter would be responsible for writing it, adding sponsors, coming events, advertising etc.  and then copying.  The copying is done here in dunnville although can be done

Hey y'all

well well, we managed another very very successful year and an awesome banquet.  Sooo nice to see so many of you out and having such a great time.  We sold all 100 tickets we printed and filled the room with laughs, good times and many prizes.  Thanks again to all of our sponsors, members, families etc. etc.  What an awesome bunch of folks!!

Ok so believe it or not, we've got AGM  on the mind already.  we have decided to hold our annual general meeting on january 16th at 1:00 pm at the Kinsmen hall in dunnville.  We will be meet and greeting and of course snacking is always included.  Because we have in our constitution that the executive directors sit on the board for two full years, we wont be lookign to do a vote unless there is an open position which at this time there is not.  We ALWAYS encourage folks to come on board as volunteers and/or directors though, theres always room for more directors.  The more hands the better!  What we look forward to is that you can come out and share your talents with us and use them to help out.  We love all the "hands on deck" in the show ring but we can also use help with the bbq, in the booth, writing newsletters, handing out ribbons, selling 50/50 tickets and prize tickets etc etc.  Anyone who has a few minutes to help out please let us know, we would really appreciate anything you can help with.

Well, here's hoping everyone has a wonderful christmas and a happy and healthy new year and we see y'all soon.  Please consider coming out to the AGM, this is the time to share ideas and suggestions.  Once the rules, class list and all other plans are set and in action for the year, it wont be up for change after the AGM has been concluded and all items on the agenda voted on.  So please, if you would like to have a say........this is the time.

All the best, take care and as always ....ride safe!!  :)

DUNNVILLE SADDLE CLUB YOUTH FUN DAY

fun day

The Dunnville Saddle Club held their annual Youth Fun Day at Julia Biro’s and Paul Stewart’s farm, RR #4 in Cayuga on Saturday, August 21st.  Can anyone say “Perfect!!”? With the weather co-operating nicely, the games, activities, and the food were all a hit!!

fun day

To start the day, youth members tested their skills penning both co-operative and not so co-operative cows; adults joined in the fun and everyone was cheered on for their efforts.  All of Paul and Julia’s other farm critters enjoyed attention too!

Members brought in a feast of salads, desserts, and treats for everyone.  Of course, a DSC event wouldn’t be complete without Paul’s super barbecued cooking and no one was disappointed!  Following the delicious meal, the kiddies must have thought that Christmas had come early!  Tina, the DSC president, surprised each and every one of them with gift bags bursting at the seams with beautiful and generous donations from Green Hawk in Dunnville.  Plaques commemorating the day, huge prize ribbons, goodies of every description, as well as a $50.00 gift certificate from Pleasant Ridge were also included!

fun day

The day wasn’t over by a long shot!  In the afternoon, laughs were long and loud when the gang ran Julia’s “reversed rake foot races” and then topped the fun with barrel-racing – young and not so young all joining in!

It was a super day for everyone!  Julia and Paul’s generosity in offering their farm and their help in planning for this event is greatly appreciated! The Youth Club and their parents, the DSC members, and spectators – all a little dusty and tired – said good-bye with big smiles, after enjoying an awesome, rewarding day.

The photos tell the story. Thank you to everyone who helped to make the DSC Youth Day such a resounding success!

Dunnville Saddle Club first show of the season,

Ok so the first show of the season was a hit!  We had many new members, two awesome draw prizes, beautiful weather and a great judge.  Our judge for the day was Shari Irwin who got rave reviews from everyone at the show.  The new pony/mini classes were a hit and there was lots of happy smiling faces on the property because of it.  The theme for the day was "fun" and "kids", the two words that go hand in hand with saddle club shows.  We are very excited to see so many young riders as well as "older" (or "mature" as we like to say"), also the range of quite "green" to very professional.  They were all on hand and cheering each other on equally as loud.  The parking was great, the ring and equipment were prepped and in perfect order and this all is thanks to Steven Cappel who spent a great deal of time making sure we were all set to go for the day.  The executive of the Dunnville Saddle Club worked their tails off to make this great day happen and it was a huge success!  Good job y'all, you all deserve a pat on teh back, executive, judge, parents, competitors and the LAS crew, not a one cowpoke job!  It takes a team and that was evident on sunday May 23rd 2010 out on the Beamsville fairgrounds.

Take care y'all, see ya fourth sunday in June.  Be there early we start promptly at 9:30 with judge Scott Carmichael.
