Hi everyone, Kentucky Derby 137 is in the history books, it was a great race and I hope you had the winner. NOTE: I did give out ANIMAL KINGDOM as my best longshot on my blogpage www.triplecrownchase.blogspot.com You can now read my review of the race as well as watch the replay. Saturday May 7th was a special day for another reason: Opening day at Fort Erie. It all started out with 2010 leading trainer Nick Gonzalez picking up where he left off, WINNING. Nick saddled and sent out BOLD SILVER to win the first race of the brand new season. The winner was ridden to victory by Terry Husbands. Also, jockey Kirk Johnson rode two winners on the opening day card. On day number two, which was Mother's day, Nick Gonzalez struck again in the opener, this time it was with ULTERIOR MOTIVE with Krista Carignan, the Fort's leading rider from last season aboard,. For Carignan, it was the first of three wins she booted home on Mom's day. Chris Griffith scored with a couple of wins of his own on the Sunday card. Trainer John Simms who was runner-up in wins in the trainer category behind Gonzalez last year, saddled three winners over the two day session. Simms' winners included, WISE CATCH--KEY POSITION on Saturday and LUCKY DAY on Sunday. Racing continues Sunday through Tuesday with first post 12:45 through the month of May.
